Types of Financial Aid

Many scholarships are available. Many of them are awarded based on your specific course of study, while others are based on broader criteria. Most are awarded based on high school achievements.

Grants Grants are a type of gift aid that do not require repayment. Eligibility is determined using federal and/or state formulas and the information you provide on your FAFSA.

Student Employment You may be able to participate in a federal work-study program providing six to eight hours of weekly on-campus employment to qualifying students.

Loans If scholarships and grant money aren't enough to cover the cost of your entire education, you can take out a student loan.

Veteran Benefits State and federal governments provide numerous financial aid programs for veterans.

Tax Credits Tax credits can be a useful tool for paying off your education expenses; while they aren't the same as financial aid grants or scholarships, they're a big help.

Pre-Paid Tuition A pre-paid tuition savings plan is a great way to prepare for the future. Every state has at least one pre-paid tuition plan in place.

Study Abroad You'll also find specific awards and aid in place for those opting to study abroad.

Army ROTC The state and federal governments each have scholarships in place specifically for ROTC students.
